Events and Choices

The company where I worked for 15 years informed us that they would be closing
down.  Times became hard because money was short.  And when money is
short, you get behind the financial 8 ball.  Once you’re behind, it’s not easy getting
back out front.  Talk about being tested.

After a couple of job interviews and temporary job placements, I began to
question things in my life and directing these questions to The Heavenly Father.
Why did I lose my job?  Why am I having a hard time finding another job?  Why is
this happening to me, Lord?  What is it I should be doing?

While driving to yet another job interview, I passed by a lot where a house was
being constructed.   I always loved watching an empty lot become someone's
home.  It was then that I realized that my passion was for houses.  Being faced
with my own challenges, a career involving beautiful homes was only a dream to
me.  Or was it?

I began to educate myself on self-employment success.  I realized that the true
definition of success includes development on all levels: spiritually, mentally,
emotionally, physically and financially.  I began attending various seminars,
reading books, placing myself around positive people and re-dedicating myself to
The Mender of Broken Hearts.  I began to incorporate re-learned spiritual
guidelines into my work life.   As these guidelines worked for me, my goals and
vision became much clearer.  Even though I was in a financial strain, things
involving my career just seemed to keep falling into place.

The result was a gradual introduction into the real estate industry, my field of
calling.  Today, I operate a successful business where I help individuals with
credit issues fulfill their dreams of owning a home.  Aside from being financially
gratifying, the “high” I experience when helping others achieve their dream of a
second chance is the ultimate in gratification.

Changes in life will occur, with or without your efforts.  Your power comes from
asking God for guidance; finding and realizing what you want (are called) to do -
your niche’; gathering as much information as you can to help you make your
dream a reality (researching and planning); then stepping out on faith (working) to
make it happen.
